http://www.myspace.com/aleaonline/ See you guys there!
WORD UP PEEPS! I figured I'd just stop by to say hello to the few people who still visit this site. Actually, one of my friends (a fellow 96er) needs something to read while he's at "work" (To protect his identity, he shall remain anonymous -- *cough* just won this past years Ka Himeni Ana *cough*). He stops by every now and then to kill time. In an effort to help my dear friend out, I will provide him with the following problem:
Two trains start from two different stations A and B. One is going from station A to station B and another from station B to station A. If first train takes 8 hours to complete the journey and the second one takes 12 hours, when do the two trains cross each other? Answer to come in the next couple of days!
*Inspired by TRUE EVENTS*
Last night I had the privilage of attending a very exclusive black tie "members only" party. Between stuffing foie gras in a ziploc to save for later and stashing some cristal in a 7-11 super gulp cup (32oz), there were a lot of wonderous sights and sounds to take in. He arrived in a big red hot air balloon, with beams of light and fire shooting through the sky. The Count of Monte Cisco made his way through the distinguished guests, coming to a stop in front of me. With a grin on his face and a heavy french accent he politely queried, "Ho, ho, ho, bonsoir Q-tip, (my hair didn't have gel in it, and it was rather poofy) Zee `Ale`a webzite hazn't been upzated for about zee month now. It is le tired. When zee heck are you gonna upzate zat shiet?" To which I replied... "On the morrow, I shall write a spectacular news item especially for you...." I bowed gracefully. We toasted the heavens with our 7-11 cups, drank, feasted, and had a merry old time. As promised, here is the most spectacular post loosely based on a true story ever to be posted on aleaonline.com.

Was going through some old posts and reminiscing earlier today. The three of us have been through a lot of stuff in the 9 years that we've been performing together. A lot of fun stuff happened, and though we'll be going our seperate ways and have no new moments to create, I'll have a lot of fond memories that I will cherish till the day I die.
Here's some good times that were documented on this site: That's The Jam Right There Best of Na Mele Travelling with Friends A Proud Day A Christmas Wish Influence? HA! More like Influenza Statewide TV and 10,000 close friends in the Audience I'll see ya when I see ya. Toodles, Ryan
Aloha peeps! Long, LONG, time no see. Here's a few updates on what's going on:
- If you can't get to a T.V. this Friday or Sunday, there's a live webcast of the Kamehameha Schools Song Contest. You can find all the information here. - In case you're wondering where the heck we are playing (the few of you who actually care... ;p)...Well to answer that in short would be - "We aren't playing anywhere". The three of us have decided to focus on our "real jobs", so in the meantime `Ale`a is on a break. We have a few gigs here and there but we're taking it easy and enjoying life. Now some bad news....After our break, Kale won't be with the group anymore. He's decided to move on with his life. Chad and I are looking (but not really hard at the moment) for a new vocalist/bassist or vocalist/guitarist to fill Kale's gigantic shoes. We'll see how that goes. The good news? Well, we're all still really good friends and will continue to be for a long time. So that in a nutshell is whats going on. Updates? Updates! updates..... Stay tuned for the next post... (who knows when that will be! Toodles!
It's been a while gang.... I know! At last, there's some news to report. The 84th Annual Kamehameha Schools Song Contest will be held on March 17th at the Neil Blaisdell Center from 7:30pm-10:00pm. This years' contest celebrates Hawai'i's Songbird, Lena Machado. The Ho'ike portion of the song contest will feature Ku'uipo Kumukahi, Raiatea Helm, Na Palapalai, Holunape, Na Hoa, Hoku Zuttermeister, and `Ale`a. It'll be a great night for Hawaiian music aficionados everywhere!
It's the 2nd year in a row that a compilation slack key album won the Hawaiian Grammy. Congratulations to Grammy winners Daniel Ho, Wayne Wong, and Paul Konwiser.
It will be interesting to see the different combinations/variations of slack key projects that will spring up in the coming years.
May the force be with all of our Hawaii musicians at the Grammy awards tonite.
Cheer for you all, I will.
Our good friends from Holunape had their wondeful debut CD "He 'Olu" reviewed by our other good friend John Berger of the Honolulu Star Bulletin last week Saturday.
I almost spit out the hot tea I was drinking when I read it. (and no, it wasn't because of the beautiful "Maui Girls") Not exactly `Ale`a news, but kinda sorta... it is.... *chuckles to himself* Read the review here: http://starbulletin.com/columnist/column.php?id=11647&col_id=28 |
